Cellist, Richard Jones is a graduate of Bob Jones University, where he earned his Bachelor's of Music degree in Cello Performance in 2007. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he began his musical studies in both piano and cello at the age of nine.  After having been accepted to the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra as a junior in high school, he served as principal cellist in the orchestra for his final three years of college.  Richard's instructors at BJU were Christine Lee and Sharon Gerber.  In 2007, he was the winner of the Commencement Competition at BJU.

Richard was a founding member of the Perfezionare Quattro, formed in 2006.  The group performed extensively in the Greenville area, presenting the works of Beethoven and Ravel, among others.  As a quartet, they competed in the MTNA Competition, receiving Honorable Mention. In October of 2007, Richard relocated to the Philadelphia area, where he has already made numerous appearances as a recitalist and chamber music collaborator.  He is a principal member of the Tenth Chamber Players, a select ensemble of young talent drawn from the Philadelphia area, and also serves as a mentor leader in the Sinfonia Sacra, a youth ensemble.

Richard has been a participant in such summer music festivals as the Brevard Music Center Music Festival and School, where he studied with Dr. Elaine Anderson.  In his spare time, Richard enjoys reading, and is very involved in the music ministry at his church, where he sings in the choir.
