Jonathan, a native of Dallas, Texas, began his piano study at the age of five with Debbie Boerner, and continued his studies with Lois Emery Nielson in 1996.

Jonathan has garnered over 25 First Place prizes in local, state, national, and international competitions. His 2003 debut with the Dallas Symphony was described as “quite impressive . . .he played with an ease and spontaneity that belied his years” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram). His performances have been broadcast on radio stations across the country including WQXR (New York) and WRR (Dallas), as well as on public television in the documentary about the New York Piano Competition titled Speaking with Music. In addition to his love of solo piano music, Jonathan is an avid chamber musician and collaborative pianist, having performed as a member of the Cape Cod Experiment and with many Eastman colleagues. Jonathan has also performed in master classes for numerous noted artist-teachers, including Michel Beroff, Marc-André Hamelin, Stephen Hough, Veda Kaplinsky, Alicia de Larrocha, Julian Martin, Bryce Morrison, Stephen Nielson, John Perry, and Arie Vardi.

Also active in the church community, Jonathan sings, accompanies, and uses his unique balloon twisting abilities for fellowships and charity events.
