Celeste Golden, Bronze Medalist in the 2006 International
Violin Competition of Indianapolis, began her musical studies at the
age of three and made her orchestral debut at the Meyerson Symphony
Center in Dallas Texas at eleven. Since then, she has performed to acclaim
with numerous orchestras around the world, including the Latvian Chamber
Orchestra in Riga, Latvia, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis
Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, The Amadeus
Chamber Players in Hannover, Germany, The Royal Chamber Orchestra of
Wallonia in Brussels, Belgium, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Santa
Fe Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, The Music in the Mountains Festival
Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival Sinfonia Orchestra, the American
Academy of Conducting Orchestra, and the Waco Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her most recent prize at the International
Violin Competition of Indianapolis of 2006, Celeste has taken prizes
at several national and international competitions. Also last
year, she was the Grand Prize Winner at the Kingsville International
Competition. In 2005, she was the winner of the Aspen Music
Festival and School Concerto Competition, the Cleveland Institute of
Music Concerto Competition, third prizewinner of the Ima Hogg International
Music Competition in Houston, Texas, and a semifinalist of the Queen
Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, Belgium. Other prizes have
included those at the Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition (Dallas Symphony
Orchestra), Corpus Christi Young Artists' Competition, Irving M. Klein
Competition, Dallas Music Teacher's Association Symphonic Festival,
(first prize 1995, 96, 97, 98, Grand Prize winner, 2000) Lennox Young
Artists competition, Juanita Miller Youth Competition and Sunray Music
Festival.
Celeste was accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute
of Music at age 15 where she studied with Jaime Laredo and Ida Kavafian.
She received her bachelor's degree in 2005 and is currently completing
her master's degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music under Paul Kantor
and David Cerone. Before that, from 1994 until 2000, she studied with
Arkady Fomin of Dallas.
In 2004, Celeste won a three-year fellowship to the
Aspen Music Festival and School and subsequently was awarded the Dorothy
Delay Memorial Fellowship, an award given to only one violin student
each summer. This summer, she will attend to the Marlboro Music
School and Festival. In 1999 Celeste was the youngest member of
the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and returned as concertmaster
in 2005 with concerts at Carnegie Hall. She is currently
a member of the IRIS Chamber Orchestra in Germantown, TN under conductor
Michael Stern.
