Samuel Wong
Samuel Wong, a native of Hong Kong, received his musical education in
the United States of America. After graduating from the University of
North Texas, Mr. Wong obtained a Master of Music in piano from the Peabody
Institute of Music of the Johns Hopkins University where he worked with
Leon Fleisher for three years. Mr. Wong has since performed, adjudicated
and taught throughout the U.S.A. Internationally, he has appeared in
recitals and master classes in Asia, Europe, and South America. Awarded
the 2003 Pre-Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers
Association, he recently gave master classes and presentations for the
Santa Fe Music Teachers Association, California Association of Professional
Music Teachers (CAPMT) State Conference, Young Pianist Series in Knoxville,
Tennessee, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in
Germany and New Mexico State University. He has been praised for his
“imagination, coloristic nuances, sonorous chordal playing and
brilliantly executed runs”, and his Chopin Etudes have been described
as “exemplary” (Wah Kiu Yat Po/Overseas Chinese Daily, Hong
Kong). Mr. Wong is founder and co-director of the Texas Conservatory
for Young Artists.
