Samuel Wong

Samuel Wong, a native of Hong Kong, received his musical education in the United States of America. After graduating from the University of North Texas, Mr. Wong obtained a Master of Music in piano from the Peabody Institute of Music of the Johns Hopkins University where he worked with Leon Fleisher for three years. Mr. Wong has since performed, adjudicated and taught throughout the U.S.A. Internationally, he has appeared in recitals and master classes in Asia, Europe, and South America. Awarded the 2003 Pre-Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association, he recently gave master classes and presentations for the Santa Fe Music Teachers Association, California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) State Conference, Young Pianist Series in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in Germany and New Mexico State University. He has been praised for his “imagination, coloristic nuances, sonorous chordal playing and brilliantly executed runs”, and his Chopin Etudes have been described as “exemplary” (Wah Kiu Yat Po/Overseas Chinese Daily, Hong Kong). Mr. Wong is also co-founder, with David Grice, of the Texas Conservatory for Young Artists.
